FIRST IN SOUTH TEXAS

Driscoll Children's Hospital Gives A Teenager
An Extreme Makeover

(Corpus Christi, TX) 14 year old, Justine Maldonado, is experiencing her teenage years with a positive outlook. Her new perspective on life comes through the help of Dr. Kevin Hopkins, Pediatric Craniofacial Surgeon, and Dr. Michael Burke, Pediatric Neurosurgeon of Driscoll Children's Hospital.

The moment Justine came into this world she was diagnosed with Orbital Hypertelorism, a condition when eyes are far apart from one another. Justine was unaware of any help until she visited with Dr. Hopkins. He thoroughly explained the health benefits an extensive surgery would serve and the physical appearance she would see in weeks ahead.

This surgery is a First of its kind in South Texas and involved an experience and extensive team of nurses, techs, and doctors to make this a success. Both Dr. Burke and Dr. Hopkins had to work side by side to oversee the delicate and intensive work.

Justine has been recovering for several weeks and would love to share her story and show you the extreme before and after shots. Please take some time to visit with Justine and Dr. Hopkins as they share with you the medical advances taking place here at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
