(Corpus Christi, TX)The paint is dried and the art work is up! Driscoll Children's Hospital is thrilled to announce the Grand Opening of Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center in Brownsville. The festivities will be as grand as the facility. We are throwing a celebration in honor of the children and families who will benefit from this Specialty Center. Driscoll Children's Hospital dignitaries will throw open the doors and are looking forward to showing residents of Brownsville the medical benefits heading their way.

Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center will service the children from the Rio Grande Valley including Brownsville and its neighboring communities. The Specialty Center will include 12 physician rooms and will provide specific pediatric services in areas of Endocrinology & Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Hematology & Oncology, Nephrology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery, Psychology & Behavioral Services, Pulmonology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Rheumatology, Surgery, and Urology. Driscoll Children's Hospital specialty physicians will offer their services to the children in need and provide follow-up visits at the center.

In addition, local students enrolled in allied health programs will participate in clinical assignment rotations at the center followed by possible job opportunities after graduation.

The day will be “lively” with a variety of entertainment from the children of Ninos Inc. Cameron Park Head Start Center and musicians from Garza Elementary Estudiantina.

Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing to the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 200-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties. Each year, more than 6,000 children are admitted for inpatient care, 5,000 for day surgery, and 50,000 for outpatient primary and specialty care, as well as 40,000 for emergency care, as the first South Texas hospital with emergency services exclusively for children. Additionally, Driscoll maintains a state-of-the-art ground/air transport team, 20-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 40-bed neonatal intensive care unit, and specialized medical outreach.
