Garbiñe Goya, M.D.., JOINS DRISCOLL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

(Corpus Christi, TX) Driscoll Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Garbiñe Goya M.D. to its medical staff. Dr. Goya, a Pediatric Cardiologist, specializes in Electrophysiology (EP) and is the only Pediatric Electrophysiologist on staff at Driscoll. Cardiac EP is a highly specialized medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. By offering this less invasive procedure to its patients, Driscoll continues to improve upon the excellent care given to children.

A native of Spain and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Goya graduated from the Universidad de Navarra Medical School and was in Residency at the University Santiago de Compostela Hospital in Barcelona. She finished her Residency and Internship at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA and most recently, completed a Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, OK.

Dr. Goya is returning to Driscoll Children’s Hospital after serving as an Associate Pediatric Cardiologist at Driscoll in 2000-2001. Prior to rejoining Driscoll, she served as the Cardiac Pediatric and Adult Electrophysiologist at the Arrhythmia Associates in Fairfax, VA. Dr. Goya is certified by the Sub-Board of Pediatric Cardiology, the American Board of Pediatrics and also hold an Ophthalmologist Certification.

Since opening its doors in 1953, Driscoll Children’s Hospital has been offering hope and healing to the children of South Texas for half a century. The facility is a 189-bed pediatric tertiary care center with pediatric board-certified specialists representing 19 medical and nine surgical specialties. Each year, more than 6,000 children are admitted for inpatient care, 5,000 for day surgery, and 50,000 for outpatient primary and specialty care, as well as 40,000 for emergency care, as the first South Texas hospital with emergency services exclusively for children.
