Driscoll Children’s Hospital Rio Grande Valley Transport Base Relocates

Ribbon Cutting & Open House Set for Tuesday, June 10th, Noon - 2 p.m.

(Brownsville, TX) Driscoll Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce the location of its new Rio Grande Valley Transport Base. The new Base is located at the Driscoll Children’s Specialty Center - Brownsville, 5500 N. Expressway. A Ribbon Cutting and Open House will be held Tuesday, June 10th at noon to celebrate.

“One of our new state-of-the-art ambulances is now serving patients in the Rio Grande Valley,’ said Nan Budge, Director of Transport Services for Driscoll Children’s Hospital. “It is imperative that there is a Transport Base within the Valley to provide a quick response to young patients; the Transport Team is honored to continue our care.’ Children such as Sofia Isabella or Bruce Allen and their families understand this well. Bruce Allen was born premature and weighed just 2.2 pounds at birth. Sofia Isabella was born with a congenital heart condition. They were born in the Valley, however needed to be transported to Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi soon after birth for treatment. Both of the former patients and their families will be on hand to help open the new Transport Base.

The Transport Base is served by a fleet of new, pediatric ambulances, as well as fixed wing and rotor air transportation. Patients in the Rio Grande Valley continue to receive the same life-saving, state-of-the-art care they always have from Driscoll Children’s Hospital Transport.
