JENNIFER “Jenna” J. GARZA, M.D.,
JOINS DRISCOLL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
AS FULL-TIME SURGEON IN RIO GRANDE VALLEY CLINICS

(Corpus Christi, TX) Driscoll Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce Jennifer J. Garza, M.D., has joined the medical staff as a pediatric surgeon in the hospital’s McAllen and Brownsville clinics. Dr. Garza will focus on complete pediatric surgical care including the most technologically advanced and least invasive techniques for infants, children, or adolescents who are born with or develop abnormalities of the neck, chest, lungs or airways, digestive tract, or urinary system.

A native of Edinburg and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Garza has returned to the Rio Grande Valley as the second full-time pediatric surgeon living and working in the Rio Grande Valley. She joins Driscoll’s surgeon Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez and the first full-time pediatric surgery dedicated practice for the growing communities of South Texas.

A graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Dr. Garza completed her residencies of general surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, a program affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, as well as St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri where she was also Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Garza did two years of research at Children’s Hospital Boston (Harvard), where she participated in the development of a new technique for bowel lengthening and helped develop a new formulation for feeding children who are not able to eat by mouth, by vein. Most recently, she completed her pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. Dr. Garza earned the accolade of Resident of the Year at St. Louis University Hospital and Resident Teacher Award (by vote of fellow medical students) at St. Mary’s Hospital.
